Forklift Controller Repair – Common Traction Unit Faults

In electric forklifts, the drive controller (traction unit) smoothly manages the speed and torque of the drive motor. It's one of the most electronically stressed components of the truck – working at high currents in dusty, damp warehouse or yard environments.
Typical faults
- The forklift won't move even though the battery is charged – a damaged power stage in the controller.
- Jerking on start and uneven motor operation – usually damaged IGBT transistors or a faulty pedal potentiometer sensor.
- An error code on the display with no drive – worth checking whether it's actually the sensor or the controller's input circuit.
- Controller doesn't respond after connecting the battery – often caused by water ingress or connector corrosion.
Why repair instead of replace
A new traction unit for popular brands (Still, Jungheinrich, Linde, Toyota) usually costs thousands of PLN. Component-level repair – replacing damaged transistors, capacitors or driver ICs – restores the controller at a much lower cost while keeping the original programming.
What the process looks like
We diagnose the controller for mechanical and electrical damage, check the power stage, supply circuits and communication with the rest of the truck, then provide a quote and estimated repair time.
